Idiopathic macular atrophy is one of the rarer dermatoses and justifies the report of a single case, since it is of interest from a histologic point of view, and lends itself to limitless speculation regarding its obscure etiology.

CASE REPORT

S. P., a Negress, aged 21, came under my observation in July, 1928. She gave a history of the spontaneous appearance, during the previous four or five months, of numerous small tumors over her body and extremities without any preexisting manifestation or subjective symptom. She had had the usual diseases of childhood, but other than this her general health had always been excellent. As far as could be determined, there was no history of tuberculosis in her family, with the exception of a maternal cousin who had recently contracted the pulmonary disease.
