These two large volumes on the normal and pathologic physiology of the human skin, aggregating more than 1,600 pages, are a monument to the scientific achievement and scholarship of Dr. M. Comel, docent in dermatology at the University of Milan. Pasini, director of the dermatologic clinic at the University of Milan, appropriately furnishes a preface to the volumes, in which he, with justice, expatiates on the extensive and excellent presentation of this field which Dr. Comel has given.
Of course, in a work so complete every phase of the subject is covered. The elaborate presentation of the chemical physiology of the skin should be noted particularly. The work is one which cannot be overlooked in a thorough consideration of any topic in cutaneous physiology.
