MORPHEA. Presented by DR. C. GUY LANE, Boston.

B. E. M., a woman aged 27, suffered a severe sunburn ten years ago, after which the first area of scarring appeared. The next lesion appeared near a vaccination scar on the left arm. Other areas have become involved since that time. No symptoms of any kind have been noticed. There is no history of injury. A hysterectomy for fibroids was performed in 1933. The ovaries, however, were not removed.

The dermatosis is located on the left arm and left scapular region. Over the latter areas are pinkish and bluish-gray areas, many of which are slightly depressed; the areas are arranged roughly in linear fashion. The centers of some of the areas are white, almost lardaceous, and much firmer than the other portions. The basal metabolic rate was reported to be + 6 per cent.
