A CASE FOR DIAGNOSIS (ERYTHROPLASIA?). Presented by DR. GEORGE C. ANDREWS.

E. F., a man aged 37, states that about seven months ago he noticed slight itching in the coronal sulcus. For two or three months the irritation would flare up and then regress. Last fall the patient observed two macular areas, one on each side of the frenum. These enlarged peripherally. Urologists considered the disorder to be a chronic balanitis resulting from incomplete circumcision. Circumcision was performed again one and one-half months ago; after that the lesions joined in the midline to form one sharply outlined red macular area. There was no induration. Apparently the lesion healed at times as a result of application of bland ointments and then recurred. There was no scaling until one month ago. The Wassermann and the Kahn test were negative.
