A great deal of dermatologic literature has been devoted to lichen planus, especially as to methods of treatment and hypotheses concerning its causation, but comparatively few unusual cases have been recorded.

Nowhere have we been able to find any description of lesions of lichen planus simulating porokeratosis or intraepidermal epithelioma. For that reason we wish to report a case in which the condition clinically resembled both of these diseases (fig. 1) but certainly had none of the characteristics which we had associated with lichen planus and would not have been correctly diagnosed if histologic examination had not been made.
