The first edition of this book has been for many years one of the most popular textbooks on dermatology and syphilology used in Spanish-American countries.

The second edition has been brought up to date. This time the author has shared the work with many of his pupils, to whom full credit is given for their collaboration. Each chapter has been carefully rewritten, and the most recent conceptions of dermatoses and their treatment are included.

Tropical diseases, such as yaws and pinta, are carefully and authoritatively discussed. Some new entities, such as sickle cell anemia and avitaminosis, are also treated.

Syphilis of the skin is studied in 160 pages, the manifestations of the acquired and the congenital types being considered. The treatment recommended is that of the Cooperative Clinic Group, a practical chart illustrating the schedule to follow in the early stages of the disease.
