The movement of ionized particles under the influence of an electric current is electrophoresis. This book by Abramson and his collaborators deals with the phenomenon in a fundamental way. The book is primarily for the biologist well grounded in electrophysics. However, the subject matter is of special interest to the dermatologist, since the skin is a semipermeable membrane on which these phenomena may be studied and observed.

Furthermore, cataphoresis may be used as a method for introducing therapeutic agents into the skin and through it to the general circulation; in fact, this method is already in use. The book devotes some pages to the skin, and comment is made on the application of electrophoresis in therapy and for the dermatologist.
