Pigmented Lesion of Cheek. Presented by Dr. EUGENE F. TRAUB.

T. Z., a child aged 21/2 years, has twice previously been presented.

DISCUSSION

DR. A. BENSON CANNON: I think one should regard the pigmented lesions in the scar as being part of the original growth. I should never consider the patient cured until there has been a lapse of twenty to twenty-five years, as melanoma has been reported to have recurred as long as twenty-five years after removal of the original tumor. I believe that at the previous meeting of this society Dr. Kingsbury presented a patient in whom the melanoma had appeared at the site of the removal of a pigmented mole eight years previously.

DR. GEORGE M. LEWIS: Time alone will tell, but one point in favor of the lesion's being benign is the fact that no new lesions have developed in the period of observation.
