To the Editor:—The reference to treatment of ringworm of the feet in a recent article by Herman Goodman (ARCH. DERMAT. & SYPH. 49:16 [Jan.] 1944) prompts me to write a few lines on the treatment of the macerated type of this disease, usually rebellious to treatment. I have been using daily applications of pure coal tar, with excellent results in practically every case, for many months. The coal tar is applied with a wooden applicator dipped with cotton, which is pressed slightly against the mouth of the bottle to avoid excess; care is taken to reach the bottom of the interspace, and the applicator is held there until the parts become black. A small pledget of cotton is then inserted between the toes and allowed to remain in place. No washing with soap and water is permitted, a new coat of tar being applied over the previous . . .
