The removal of a specimen for biopsy may be facilitated by the use of a flat metal guide, convex on one border and concave on the other. The first incision may be made along the convex border to the desired extent and the ellipse completed by turning the guide and cutting along the concave border. If it is preferred, the concave border may be used for both incisions.
