DISCUSSION with dermatologists results in the opinion that the majority have been unable to arrive at a conclusion as to the value of treatment of acne with vitamin A or have judged it to be of little value in spite of the rather favorable report by Straumfjord.¹ Published reports have been few and inconclusive. Experimental studies by Cornbleet and his associates² failed to demonstrate any lack of vitamin A in the blood of patients with acne. Obermayer and Frost³ recently said that as yet they "are prepared only to state that vitamin A therapy is undoubtedly of benefit in the handling of some forms of acne vulgaris while others do not seem influenced by it."
