Chronic Porphyria with Cutaneous Manifestations.
R. H., a 23 year old farmer, was presented before the Society three years ago, with a condition suggestive of porphyria. The diagnosis has been confirmed. He has had the unusual combination of symptoms of acute and chronic porphyria, and his record has been described in full (Brunsting, L. A., and Mason, H. L.: Porphyria with Cutaneous Manifestations, ARCH. DERM. & SYPH. 60: 66 [July] 1949).
In the past two years, since his recovery from the acute phase of the disease, the patient has been observed periodically while carrying out his regular work as a farmer. He is in good physical condition. The skin of the exposed surfaces of the face and neck shows a slight pigmentation, and there is a reddish blue suffusion.
