Match and match box dermatitis has been described by several authors.¹ Primary involvement is usually in the pocket area in which matches have been carried. In a few cases, there has been a secondary spread to involve the face. Recently we have seen two cases of dermatitis of the face not associated with lesions elsewhere. In these two cases, "strike anywhere" matches proved to be the offending contactants.

We wish to present these cases in order to draw attention to the fact that matches should be considered in unexplained cases of contact dermatitis of the face simulating nail polish dermatitis.

REPORT OF CASES

Case 1.—

Mrs. R. B., aged 60, had a frequently recurring contact dermatitis of the face for five years. The attacks were accompanied with erythema, irritability and edema, notably about the eyes, and lesions also occurred on the sides of the chin and neck. The whole picture . . .
