Sclerosis in old hemangiomas is not infrequently observed by histopathologists, but such cases are rather seldom reported. They sometimes offer an interesting problem in differential diagnosis, and hence we present this report.
P. G., a 68-year-old white man, was first seen by us in January, 1951, at which time he was treated for a mild seborrhoea capitis. During the physical examination a firm reddish-brown plaque was observed on the lateral aspect of the right ankle. The lesion was symptomless. It was approximately 0.75 cm. wide and 1.5 cm. long. There was no inguinal lymphadenopathy, and there were no similar lesions elsewhere on the body.
The patient had first noted the lesion when he was 28 years old, but he could not recall very much about possible changes in appearance during the 40 years of its existence,
