The author, who was a pupil of Sabouraud, has had exceptionally wide experience with problems concerning the hair and scalp. In this interesting small volume, she expresses many of her own opinions and conclusions and, in addition, contributes a very adequate number of references from the classical and recent literature.

For a volume of its size, a remarkable amount of information is available: the macroscopic descriptions are detailed and accurate, but, unfortunately, the corresponding histopathologic discussions are often too brief. The book contains 59 photographs which are clear and excellent; it would, however, benefit by an increase in the number of photomicrographs of the scalp in this day of confirmation of clinical impressions by histopathologic examinations.
