To the Editor: I should be glad if you would open your columns to a discussion on the terms dermatitis and eczema, with a view to arriving at a better understanding of the use of these terms in the field of dermatology. I make this suggestion because all dermatologists know how large a proportion of their cases can be placed under one or other term.
At the Kingston Public Hospital, Jamaica, when all patients with diseases of the skin were being referred to the Skin Department, the three commonest dermatoses in 6,740 new cases seen by me were the following:
