L. C., a white retired widower, aged 52, developed a rash on the left upper arm, lateral surface, in March, 1950, one month after arriving in Japan. While en route to Japan, a rash developed on his face, which cleared up promptly on the administration of benadryl orally. While in Japan from March, 1950, to January, 1953, he was continuously under the care of the Army medical officers. Aside from the skin lesions, the entire work-up, including roentgenological, hematological and visceral examinations, showed no abnormalities.

On the upper extremities, neck-band area, chest, abdomen and back, there are lesions that are circular or oval in shape, varying in size from 1 to 2 cm. in diameter, with a hard, pearly, elevated border with an atrophic center.
