Chronic Porphyria (Porphyria Hepatica, Mixed or "Cutanea Tarda" Type); Bullosis Actinica et Mechanica, Hydroa Vacciniforme. Presented by DR. MURRAY ZIMMERMAN.

A 52-year-old house painter was in good health until 1933, when he developed a peculiar dark gray tan on sun-exposed areas. This continued until 1947, when he began to develop blisters and crusted lesions on sun-exposed areas, which healed leaving severe pitted scars. In 1951, the patient noticed that if he had to hold his urine for a long time, it showed a reddish discoloration, and he also noticed accidentally that a urine specimen left for 24 hours darkened considerably to a reddish color. He states that there has been no discomfort except that about two hours after painting on the sunny side of a house he has noticed itching and burning on sun-exposed areas.
