Dr. Chamberlain, who at the time of the meeting was chairman of the Executive Committee of the American Roentgen Ray Society, replied:

Dear Dr. Rattner: Nov. 17, 1955

I have your important letter of Sept. 29 regarding reports of press interviews with me that appeared in the Chicago Tribune and Chicago Sun-Times on Sept. 22.

I have not seen the press reports which you refer to, but judging from your letter it appears that I was not misquoted. Certain qualifying remarks were left unreported—a not-unexpected feature of most news conferences. In spite of these omissions I cannot really say that I was "misinterpreted." If I may, at this time, add to my reported statements along the following lines, I may be able to provide your readers with a clear picture of just what was on my mind, why my crusading spirit was aroused, and why I gave voice to my . . .
