DISCUSSION

DR. FRANZ HERRMANN: The presentation by Dr. Hambrick has furnished renewed proof of the great value of his and Dr. H. Blank's work for the understanding of the anatomy of the skin and its appendages. The study of whole mounts will certainly help to clarify many questions of topography as well as of function arising from the examination of ordinary histologic sections or of the skin in situ (through the "wide-field microscope").

As a result of the striking demonstration of the infundibulum at the follicular ostia we may now be more conscious of this structure than heretofore. Dr. S. Morrill, at the Department of Dermatology and Syphilology, Skin and Cancer Unit, New York University Post-Graduate Medical School, had called my attention to the infundibula in histologic sections in which their (diastase-resistant) contents . . .
