The extreme rarity of the condition is the reason for presenting the following case. From 1925 to 1946 only four cases of hemangioendothelioma were seen and confirmed pathologically in the Department of Radiation Therapy at Bellevue Hospital, New York, together with four other cases in all the other departments of the hospital during the same period, although many thousands of neoplasms were treated in that time (Drucker,¹ 1947). Fricke and associates,² 1954, in a study of rare pelvic cancers treated from 1935 to 1954 at the Mayo Clinic, found only two hemangioendotheliomas (of the cervix uteri) in this time. Others, including Stout,³ 1943; Hanford,⁴ 1939; Cheyne and Silberstein,⁵ 1942, and Sherman and Calman,⁶ 1955, have remarked upon its rarity.
