The occurrence of "similar, simultaneous and symmetrical" tumors in monozygotic twins is always noteworthy; the present example of true basal-cell epithelioma in twins appears, in addition, to be unique. Unfortunately, histological confirmation was lacking in one of the brothers, but the clinical evidence seems reliable.

Previous Literature

As is well known, a dominant sex-linked inheritance has been demonstrated for cylindromas (Schmidt-Bäumler^*). A related condition has been described by Forman¹ as "familial and congenital basal-celled epithelioma in the distribution of epithelioma adenoides cysticum, and showing some of the histological changes of the latter." It developed on the chin, in the nasolabial folds, and in front of the ears at the age of puberty (and therefore was not "congenital"), taking the form of "a basal-celled tumour with cells arranged in columns.
