The association of one disease with another may be unrelated or may be the result of common etiological factors. One disease may predispose a person to the development of another, even more serious, disease. It is of value to record such experiences so that correct judgment may be formed of their frequency and importance.

Goeckerman,¹ in a report of a case of psoriasis associated with lupus erythematosus, stated that "psoriasis apparently may be incidentally associated with any disease." The commoner association of psoriasis preceding mycosis fungoides has led observers to consider this relationship from a different point of view. Murphy and Montgomery,² in a review of the literature of simultaneous occurrence of psoriasis and mycosis fungoides, found 11 cases and added 1 of their own. They summarize the three prevalent schools of thought as follows:
