Case for Diagnosis: Zirconium Granuloma; Sarcoidosis? Presented by CAPT. GEORGE B. SKIPWORTH (MC), (U. S. Army) (by invitation).

In March, 1956, this 50-year-old woman was treated for Rhus dermatitis of the face, chest, and arms with a proprietary lotion containing hydrous zirconium oxide and orally administered steroids. A recurrence in July, 1956, was controlled with orally administered steroids and tripelennaminezirconium cream. An eruption has persisted on her forearms and neck since that time. Subsequent recurrences of a vesicular eruption, presumed to be from poison oak, have been treated with the above medications. The general health has remained good.

There is a dusky-yellow papular eruption on the dorsa of both forearms and similar lesions scattered over the anterior neck. The remainder of the physical examination is negative.

Pertinent blood and urine tests are normal, as are x-ray films of the chest and hands. Tuberculin, coccidioidin, and histoplasmin skin . . . [Full Text PDF of this Article]
