Diagnosis: I. Extracellular Cholesterosis; II. Follow-Up Report of a Proven Case of Extracellular Cholesterosis. Presented by DR. JULIUS H. POLLOCK and DR. NATHAN SOBEL.
I. The patient presented is a 43-year-old housewife who was first seen about 8 months ago with a complaint of a painful, progressive, and recurrent eruption limited mainly to the extremities and of one year's duration. Examination of the patient at that time revealed a middle-aged woman apparently in good general health but for the dermatosis that had the following important features:
- Lesions that were of recent development had morphologic characteristics of erythema multiforme; namely, macules of erythema, plaques of edema, and gradations of these processes up to vesicles and bullae. Unlike erythema multiforme, these lesions were very tender and painful.
