The Use of Triquin in the Treatment of Discoid Lupus Erythematosus and Some Other Skin Conditions

The antimalarial drugs quinacrine (Atabrine),1,2 chloroquine (Aralen),3 and hydroxychloroquine (Plaquenil),4 as well as amodiaquin (Camoquin),5 have been used in the treatment of discoid lupus erythematosus and in the suppression of polymorphous light eruption.

Since the summer of 1955 we have observed the results of the treatment of these diseases with a tablet which is a combination of quinacrine 25 mg., chloroquine 50 mg., and hydroxychloroquine 65 mg., called Triquin,* and have come to the

This can be summarized briefly as 18 excellent and 5 moderately good results out of a total of 23 patients with discoid lupus erythematosus, of whom 12 had had no previous treatment and 11 had had some considerable treatment (4 with no improvement until the use of Triquin).
