Simultaneous Evolution of a Subacute Lupus Erythematosus and of Psoriasis

The coincidence of lupus erythematosus (L.E.) and psoriasis appears to be a rare event, and only two references have been found in the literature. Christ1 reported one case, and Schauman2 described three patients, in all of whom the psoriasis had been present for many years before the L.E. changes became apparent. Other instances suspected3 turned out to be cases of lichen planus on further observation. We have not been able to find a report of a simultaneous development of these two diseases.

Report of a Case

A 37-year-old woman of English extraction was first seen in November 1957. Her past history included a tonsillectomy in 1930, a short bout of an otitis media in 1937, and a nonicteric hepatitis in 1952.
