Extramammary Paget's disease is an uncommon but challenging lesion. Because of its infrequency, the possibility that an eczematoid eruption in sites other than the nipple might be related to underlying carcinoma is sometimes overlooked. Unlike Paget's disease of the nipple, there is yet to be general agreement on the significance of identical skin changes elsewhere. In this report a case of extramammary Paget's disease of the perineum is presented.

Report of a Case

A 75-year-old, white, retired nurse and widow entered the Veterans Administration Hospital, San Francisco, on July 24, 1957. The chief complaint was progressive perianal itching of three years' duration. During this time she noted occasional bright red rectal bleeding associated with hard stools. There were no further gastrointestinal complaints.

Past history was unremarkable except for hypertension of six years' duration.
