The occurrence of sarcoid-like infiltration in lesions of necrobiosis lipoidica has been reported. On the other hand, necrobiotic change may occur in the center of a sarcoid lesion. Thus, in some instances it is difficult to establish which one of the pathologic changes is primary and which is secondary.
In this paper, we are reporting a relevant case and will refer to 2 similar published cases by Forman1 and Williams.2
Report of Case
History.—
A 55-year-old white woman was first seen in August, 1945. She presented eruptions which started 7 years previously on her face and scalp; new lesions had developed later on her ears, face, hands, legs, and thighs. Some of these had been excised and diagnosed as tuberculosis. The process gradually extended on the scalp and led to scarring and alopecia.
