The treatment of acne is not as adequate or simple as could be desired, so attempts are often being made to find new forms of therapy. Cooper and Gant1 have reported on the treatment of acne vulgaris with hydrochlorothiazide. They claim a consistent rapid clearing of acne lesions in 18 patients taking hydrochlorothiazide, 25 mg., 3 times a day.

A study has been undertaken to evaluate this therapy in 50 patients. This group ranged in age from 8 years to 29 years and consisted of 22 males and 28 females. All patients were put on a basic acne routine consisting of soap washings 3 times each day, followed by the application of camphorboric astringent and the nightly use of a basic sulfur ointment ( Sulpho-Lac ).
