Lipoid Proteinosis. Presented by DR. HAROLD PLOTNICK, Detroit.

A white girl, age 5, has had a raspy, hoarse voice, thinning scalp hair, and recurrent scattered crusted lesions followed by "pocking" since infancy. Whitish growths on the inner surface of the lower lip have been noted by the mother in the past year.

The patient has 4 siblings, including her fraternal twin (female). No other members of the family are affected. No history of consanguinity or diabetes was given.

Physical Examination.—

The patient had difficulty in protruding her tongue because of a short thickened frenulum. There was sparse hair growth over the frontoparietal scalp. Pock-like atrophic macular areas were scattered over the forehead, cheeks, bridge of nose, chin, upper natal cleft, midchest, ulnar surfaces, and posterior axillary folds.
