To the Editor:—

We, the surviving co-authors of the paper presented by the late Dr. John E. Dalton at the April, 1960, meeting of the American Dermatological Association (ARCH. DERM. 83:230-242 [Feb.] 1961) entitled "Lichen Myxedematosus (Papular Mucinosis),'' wish to express our appreciation to Dr. George W. Binkley for calling attention to the marked similarity of the second case presented in that paper to Degos' disease (malignant atrophic papulosis) in his letter to the editor, ARCHIVES OF DERMATOLOGY, June, 1961.

The possibility of this case representing a case of Degos' disease rather than a variant of lichen myxedematosus was considered both prior to the presentation of the paper and afterwards. The problem was discussed extensively with Dr. Dalton prior to his demise in August, 1960. The patient's clinical findings and course were very similar to those described with Degos' disease; however, the histopathological findings were not consistent with those of . . .
