Hidradenitis Suppurativa. Presented by DR. ADOLPH ROSTENBERG, JR. and (by invitation) DR. SYDNEY DIAMOND.

A 42-year-old white man was first seen in our hospital with this condition in 1954. At that time, the infection was present in rather severe form in both axillae and in the groin. He presented numerous draining infected sinuses.

Treatment included potassium permanganate compresses, silver nitrate compresses, and most of the known antibiotics orally in various dosages. He has had x-ray therapy and various ointments and lotions. In spite of therapy, his condition became progressively worse.

Surgery.—

February, 1956: right axilla was cleaned out and skin grafted; Nov. 20, 1961: left axilla was cleaned out and skin grafted; Dec. 15, 1961: groin, scrotum, and both buttocks were cleaned out and skin grafted; January, 1962: reoperated on in right groin.

Since his surgery, the acne of his face and back has improved markedly without other therapy.
