Report of Case

A white female, age 19, was scratched on the right cheek by her dog's claw. The dog was healthy and did not have warts. The scratch bled slightly and healed within a few days. Two months later the "mark" reappeared and was followed one month later by sparse small papular lesions on the forehead and chin. Eleven months later, on her first visit to my office, examination revealed an 8 cm. narrow linear plaque containing many small confluent verrucous papules, extending diagonally from under the right eye to the right lower lateral cheek (Figure). Scattered small verrucous papules were seen on the chin and forehead. Several typical lesions from the linear plaque were excised for biopsy. The histologic report by Dr. Margaret Gray Wood stated that the changes are consistent with those of verruca vulgaris. A drying soap and lotion used for treatment of acne were . . .
