Atopic Dermatitis with Regular Monthly Exacerbation at Ovulation Time. Presented by DR. HAROLD PRICE, for discussion of hormonal influences in this disease.

The patient is a 29-year-old, married, white female, who has typical findings of atopic dermatitis.

History.—

Onset of eczema at age 4-5, eruption confined to cubital areas, worse in winter time, clearing in summer, until about 16 years of age; from age 16 to age 25, the skin was free of dermatitis. Lived in Michigan until moving to Los Angeles in 1957.

In May, 1959, in the fifth month of pregnancy, dermatitis recurred on face, lasting about 2 months and was controlled with topical steroid ointment.

Two days after delivery (pregnancy and delivery were uncomplicated and uneventful) a vesicular eruption appeared on fingers, dorsa of hands, and gradually spread to involve forearms, arms, shoulders, face, and then became practically generalized.
