Reason for Presentation.—

The action spectrum was greater than 4,000 A.

History.—

This twenty-one-year old pre-law student, of Puerto Rican birth, was apparently in excellent health until 6 years ago when within a few minutes after leaving a football game on a sunny October day he noted the development of "itching and hives" on the face and dorsa of both hands. Since that occasion exposure to the direct sun for more than 15 minutes has resulted in pruritus, erythema, and urticaria of the exposed skin sites. Window glass affords no protection, although the blue-tinted glass of a car windshield was felt to be somewhat protective by the patient.
