This issue of the ARCHIVES OF DERMATOLOGY has been compiled as a tribute to Donald Marion Pillsbury, MD, Professor and Chairman of Dermatology, School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania. The occasion of his sixtieth birthday affords an appropriate time to assemble this Festschrift attesting to Dr. Pillsbury's world-wide influence on dermatology as practitioner, investigator, teacher, adviser, organizer, and administrator. In planning this collection of studies, priority consideration was given to contributions of individuals from all over the world whose training or opportunities for research were under Dr. Pillsbury's aegis. Obviously because of lack of space, only a sampling of the many offerings could be included. The wide range of subjects presented indicates the many fields of interest which Dr. Pillsbury has inspired younger men to follow. His pupils and their accomplishments constitute a monument to his contribution to World Dermatology.
