A technique using warm compresses and subsequent application of a fluocinolone acetonide cream in the treatment of acne vulgaris is reported. It is especially helpful in the severe types of acne.

This report deals with preliminary results in the treatment of acne vulgaris with warm moist compresses and the topical application of a corticosteroid cream.^*

This technique was prompted by several previous communications. Corticosteroids have been reported to be beneficial in the treatment of acne vulgaris by oral administration^1-3 or by intralesional injections.^4,5 Although the topical use of a corticosteroid cream in acne vulgaris has had its advocates,^6,7 we have not been able to attest to their favorable results.
