Necrobiosis Lipoidica? Diabeticorum. Presented by LCDR W. M. NARVA, MC USN, DR. EDWARD J. RINGROSE, and LCDR R. E. CUTLER, MC USNR.

A 41-year-old white female has had bilateral pretibial skin lesions for 14 years. She was initially seen in our clinic in 1959, where the diagnosis of necrobiosis lipoidica was made. Therapy has included lipoheparin injections, intralesional steroids,

The patient has been repeatedly studied for diabetes mellitus. Several oral glucose tolerance tests in the past have been within normal limits. She does have a maternal aunt who has diabetes mellitus. The patient vigorously denies ever having smoked any tobacco products.

Physical examination is entirely within normal limits except for the azure-colored atrophic patches on both pretibial regions. recall seeing like this one was an atrophic lichen planus.
