The ARCHIVES of DERMATOLOGY discontinued its regular department on abstracts of the literature because now there are available other such services. However, the Editorial Board believes that there is still a need for critical reviews of selected articles which are of interest to the specialty of dermatology and which do not necessarily appear in the dermatological journals.
In this issue the ARCHIVES will begin publishing a regular department entitled "Selected Reviews of the Literature." Each month the attention of our readers will be called to several current papers. These will not be simple abstracts. Rather, they will be critical reviews of subjects of significance for those who are interested in the skin and the science of medicine.
