Lentigo Maligna. Presented by DR. JOHN D. ROGERS.
Patient.—
The patient is a 62-year-old Russian woman, residing in Mexico.
Description.—
She presents a dark brown macular lesion with a small amount of infiltration about 2 cm x 1.5 cm in diameter but irregular and located on the right lower lid. The upper margin of the lesion is about 4 mm from the lid margin.
History.—
This began about ten years ago as what appeared to be a freckle and only in the last two years has it increased materially in size. Recently activity has been much more marked.
Laboratory.—
A 4 mm punch biopsy shows considerable disorganization of the epidermis with the presence of nevus cells. Although the line of demarcation between the dermis and the epidermis is not very distinct, it would appear that this is not an invasive melanoma but a superficial lesion.
