Actinomycotic Mycetoma. Presented by DRS. CHARLES S. LINCOLN, RAY C. NORDSTROM, and RICHARD S. GOODMAN.

The patient is a 44-year-old Mexican housewife who emigrated to the United States in 1945 in apparent good health. In 1951, pain and swelling were noted in the left ankle with the development of draining sinuses. A biopsy from the left ankle in 1953 showed dense fibroadipose tissue with a nonspecific granulomatous reaction due to the presence of colonies of fungi. No growth resulted from cultures. A diagnosis of actinomycotic infection of fibroadipose tissue was made at that time. She has continued to have swelling of the ankle and draining sinuses.

Treatment.—

Nydrazid, oral penicillin, Gantrisin, and sulfadiazine have been used with slight improvement. At the present, therapy consists of INH and DDS.

Laboratory.—
