Editorial The Association of Professors of Dermatology and Their Conference On Undergraduate Teaching

FOR MANY years the specialty of dermatology has recognized the need for and expressed an interest in improving its teaching in medical schools. In 1960 the president of the American Academy of Dermatology, Inc., after consulting with its Education Committee, appointed an ad hoc committee to consider the formation of an organization of those responsible for such teaching. In 1961 an organizational meeting of the teachers of dermatology took place under the sponsorship of the American Academy of Dermatology. This group, named the Association of Professors of Dermatology, is made up of one active teacher from each medical school in the United States and Canada and those United States graduate training centers approved by the American Board of Dermatology, which are not parts of active undergraduate medical school educational programs. Each representative member was nominated by the dermatologic representatives of his educational institution.
