QUO vadis, Dermatologia? Whither goest thou, dermatology? Dermatology is not what she was, nor where she was, when we entered her fold. Changes have indeed been major in our time. Effective therapy has greatly reduced the time given to syphilis and other venereal diseases. Many other infections have been minimized by newer therapies. Infectations are of less concern as a result of improved treatment and hygiene. Perhaps the most dramatic and most broad influence has been that of corticosteroid therapy, topical and systemic. As a result of these influences, general practitioners are more effective therapists now than they were only a few years ago. Social and economic factors have been subtle, but important. That dermatology has changed is self-evident.
