ON THE following pages is the announcement of the formation of a Dermatology Foundation. The Foundation is intended to be a channel through which contributions can be made to provide better understanding of diseases affecting the skin and to help persons with skin diseases through improved teaching and research. The need for such a channel has long been evident, because although governmental support for research in which the skin is the principal focus has increased greatly in the past decade, there are many areas of dermatology in which the support has varied from nothing to a pittance.
In view of the proliferation of national health agencies to something more than 100 at the present time, one might question the advisability of adding another.
