Congenital Ichthyosiform Erythroderma With Bullae. Presented by DR. FRANK E. CORMIA.

History.—

The duration of the dermatosis was 2 years (life), at generalized sites.

OCT 13, 1963.—

The patient was born at North Shore Hospital, in a normal spontaneous delivery, with a birth weight of 3,000 gm (6 lb 6 oz). Desquamation of skin of the "entire body" from a red, oozing base was noted at birth, with positive Nikolsky's sign. Her nails were unusually long. She remained in the hospital for five months with repeated infections and was treated with various antibiotics. Feeding problems were present during periods of infection, and her weight gain was far below normal. She was discharged in "fair condition."

MARCH 7-JUNE 18, 1964.—

The patient was followed by a private pediatrician and treated with various topical medications and systemic antibiotics without significant improvement. She developed flaccid nonhemorrhagic bullae spontaneously or after trauma.
