Mercuriali, Geronimo. De Morbis Cutaneis et Omnibus Corporis Humani Excrementis Tractatus. Small 4to, old vellum, (old repairs to margins of first 4 leaves). Venice, apud P. & A. Meietos, 1572. First Edition. Very Scarce. . . . "The first systematic text-book on diseases of the skin"—Garrison-Morton 3980.1

The title page (Fig 1) reads as follows: Essays on Diseases of the Skin and All Excrements of the Human Body, with copious references to numerous and diverse doctrines, useful not only to physicians but also to philosophers, carefully compiled from the words of the most illustrious physician, Hieronymus Mercurialis, and arranged in five books by Paulus Aicardius, with authorization and privilege. Venice, Paulus and Antonius Meietus Brothers, Publishers, 1572.

The motto of the publishers' emblem reads, "Eat not the fruits of untruth." The table of contents (Fig 2) lists chapters on diseases of the skin of the head . . . [Full Text PDF of this Article]
