One hundred seventy-nine authors contribute to this compilation by presenting 194 case reports on clinical stomatology. A large number of the conditions are localized to the oral cavity and adjacent tissues, but others represent a part of a systemic process. Reading these descriptions makes one appreciate more keenly the intimate relationships of oral and systemic pathology.
Although some conditions deal solely with the teeth or their supporting osseous structures, the great majority of them are important to the dermatologist because they can be visualized and/or palpated, or there is a relationship with a dermatologic problem.
Of interest are the oral mucosa findings in many syndromes which are not often found in dermatologic textbooks (eg, Hurler's syndrome, Aldrich's syndrome, etc). Such case reports on clinical stomatology partially fill a need because the dermatologic literature, in my opinion, is somewhat lacking in this field.
